The short answer
What thrift store items sell fastest on eBay?
Of 16 thrift-store regulars checked on Nov 1, 2026 (eBay, Used + US Only), the Kindle Paperwhite moved fastest: over 2,900 sold in about 90 days against 501 listed, almost six to one. Garmin Forerunners (2,500+ vs 766) and the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 (1,400+ vs 499) came next. Check sold, then listed, before you buy.
- Kindle Paperwhite: over 2,900 sold vs 501 listed (eBay, Used + US Only, Nov 1, 2026), almost six sold for every one listed.
- The 30-second check: count eBay sold results (Used + US Only), then listed results with the same words and filters, and compare.
- eBay's sold results only go back about 90 days, and a '+' means eBay rounded, so sold vs listed is a rough guide.
- Busy isn't fast: Dr. Martens 1460s sold 2,200+ but 7,700+ are listed; Precious Moments sold 10,000+ against 86,000+ listed.
- The model sets the price: a 6th-gen Paperwhite sold for $34.99 and a 12th-gen for $100, both Oct 31, 2026.

I checked 16 things resellers see at the thrift store all the time and counted, on eBay, how many sold against how many are listed right now. Seven came out clearly fast, and a few popular items turned out to be slow. Here are the seven, the slow ones, and the 30-second check you can run on anything before you pay for it.
Every count below was taken on Nov 1, 2026 with the same filters (Used + US Only), and every price is a real eBay sold listing with its sale date. Counts change every day, so treat them as a snapshot, not a promise.
How do you check if something sells fast on eBay?
Compare how many sold with how many are listed. It takes about 30 seconds:
- Search the item on eBay and turn on Sold items. Also tick Used and US Only. Write down the number of results.
- Turn Sold off and keep the same words and the same filters. That's how many are listed right now.
- Compare the two.

Here's a worked example. A North Face Denali fleece showed over 2,200 sold. Sounds great. But over 9,500 are listed, which is about one sold for every four listed. Lots of people buy them, and far more people are trying to sell them.
What should you know before trusting sold vs listed?
It's a rough guide, not a precise number, for two reasons.
- The sold count only goes back about 90 days. eBay's own help pages for its product research tool say sold results cover the previous 90 days. The listed count is everything up right now.
- A "+" means eBay rounded. When the count says 2,200+, the real number is somewhere above that.

eBay also has a free research tool, Terapeak, in Seller Hub (free for Seller Hub sellers since April 2021). It shows its own sell-through rate. I couldn't find where eBay explains that math, so don't expect it to match the quick sold-vs-listed comparison here.

Of the 16 items I checked, Toshiba DVD/VCR combos (397 sold vs 149 listed) and Red Wing Heritage boots (1,200+ vs 949) also sold fast, but they were in my Oct 31 video, so they're not repeated here. The Ninja CREAMi was left off because its count was mixed up with accessories like pints and lids.
Which thrift finds sold fastest on eBay?
Here are the seven, slowest to fastest. "Sold" is eBay's sold search (about the last 90 days) and "Listed" is what's up now, both Used + US Only, checked Nov 1, 2026.
| # | Item | Sold (~90 days) | Listed now | Roughly | Typical used sold price | What to look for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | Canon AE-1 Program | 909 | 1,300+ | 7 sold per 10 listed | most $80-$200 with the 50mm lens | "Program" in the name; test it with a battery |
| 6 | LEGO Star Wars sets | 4,900+ | 6,600+ | 3 sold per 4 listed | $25-$84 | Set number, manual, minifigures |
| 5 | Cricut Maker | 294 | 344 | 6 sold per 7 listed | originals about $50-$130 | Power cord and blade |
| 4 | Bose QuietComfort 35 II | 584 | 478 | more sold than listed | $50-$99 | Test them; the case adds value |
| 3 | Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 | 1,400+ | 499 | almost 3 to 1 | $68-$94 | Which version: original, II or STM |
| 2 | Garmin Forerunner | 2,500+ | 766 | more than 3 to 1 | $70-$268 | The model number; the charging cable |
| 1 | Kindle Paperwhite | 2,900+ | 501 | almost 6 to 1 | $35-$95 | The generation; factory reset |
"Typical" is the middle half of recent used sales on the first page of sold results (Oct 2026). For the AE-1 Program, it's 33 of 44 full-price sales from Oct 20-28, 2026.
7. How much does a Canon AE-1 Program sell for?
Most AE-1 Programs with the 50mm lens sold for about $80 to $200 on eBay in late October 2026. On speed, 909 sold against over 1,300 listed: about seven sold for every ten listed.
Canon brought it out in April 1981. Look for the word Program in the name; the plain AE-1 is the older camera. One with a 50mm f/1.4 lens and extras sold Oct 28, 2026 for $169.99 (used).
The catch is testing. An untested one went to auction and sold Oct 26, 2026 for $51 with 19 bids. Put a battery in it before you list it, and listen when you fire it: a squeal from the mirror mechanism means it needs a service.
6. Do used LEGO Star Wars sets sell on eBay?
Yes. Over 4,900 used sets sold, with over 6,600 listed, so about three sold for every four listed. Typical used sets sold for about $25 to $84.
Star Wars was LEGO's first licensed theme, back in 1999. A Millennium Falcon, complete with the box, sold Oct 31, 2026 for $100. A big retired Death Star with the manual and minifigures sold the same day for $625. That's one sale and the headline, not the normal price.
The set number is on the box and the instructions. Make sure the minifigures are there: the complete sets are the ones that got paid.
5. Is a used Cricut Maker worth reselling?
It moves, but not as fast as the top four: 294 sold and 344 listed, a few more listed than sold (about six sold for every seven listed).
The original Maker came out in 2017, model CXPL301. Used originals sold for about $50 to $130 in the last couple of weeks of October 2026, and auctions went lower. One with the power adapter sold Oct 27, 2026 for $129.99. The newer Maker 3 sold for $160 and $200. Check for the power cord and the blade before you buy.
4. How much are used Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones?
Typical used pairs sold for about $50 to $99 on eBay in late October 2026, and more sold (584) than are listed (478).
These came out in 2017, with a button for the Google Assistant. A silver pair sold Oct 30, 2026 for $99.99, and a pair with the case sold Oct 31 for $125. Bose itself warns that fakes copy real serial numbers, so a serial number alone doesn't prove a pair is real. Test them, and if anything feels off, pass.
3. Which Canon 50mm f/1.8 sells for the most?
In what I found, the STM version brought the most. Over 1,400 sold against 499 listed, almost three sold for every one listed, and typical used ones sold for about $68 to $94.
There are three versions of the "nifty fifty":
| Version | Year | How to tell | A real sale |
|---|---|---|---|
| EF 50mm f/1.8 (original) | 1987 | Metal mount | none pulled for this video |
| EF 50mm f/1.8 II | around 1990 | Plastic mount | $73.99, used, Oct 31, 2026 |
| EF 50mm f/1.8 STM | 2015 | "STM" on the lens | $95, used with caps, Nov 1, 2026 |
The II sold for less than the STM in the sales I found. Read the lens barrel before you price it.
2. How much do used Garmin Forerunner watches sell for?
It depends almost entirely on the model. Typical used Forerunners sold for about $70 to $268, and 2,500+ sold against 766 listed, more than three to one.
The first Forerunners came out in 2003, and there have been a lot since. An old Forerunner 235 sold Oct 31, 2026 for $70. A 165 sold the same day for $144, and a 970 for $555 (one sale). Garmin watches use Garmin's own charging cables, so grab the cable if it's there. If the battery is dead, you can't test the watch without one.
1. Why is the Kindle Paperwhite the fastest seller?
Of the 16 items I checked, it had the most lopsided count: over 2,900 sold and 501 listed, almost six sold for every one listed. If nobody listed another one, at that pace the whole pile would be gone in about two weeks. That's a pace, not a promise.

Typical used ones sold for about $35 to $95, but the generation sets the price:
| Generation | Sold for | Sold | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6th generation | $34.99 | Oct 31, 2026 | Used |
| 11th generation | $77.99 | Oct 31, 2026 | Used |
| 12th generation (2024) | $100 | Oct 31, 2026 | Used |
To see which one you have, go to Device Options, then Device Info. Do a factory reset before you list it; that's what Amazon recommends before you sell one. Once it's reset and photographed, EasyFlip can write the eBay listing from a few photos.
Why are Dr. Martens 1460 boots slow on eBay?
Because so many are listed. Over 2,200 pairs sold in about three months, which sounds hot, but over 7,700 are listed: about three and a half listed for every one that sold.
Typical used pairs sold for $32 to $65. A vintage Made in England pair did better: one sold Oct 31, 2026 for $99.99. That's one sale, but it's why you check the label.
One more check: in 2017, some vegan cherry red 1460s made in Vietnam were recalled. The CPSC says it's illegal to sell a recalled product, so look anything up at cpsc.gov/Recalls before you list it.
Which thrift items have too many listings on eBay?
Figurines and baskets. They sell all the time, but the listed pile is many times bigger than what sells:
| Item | Sold (~90 days) | Listed now | Typical used sold price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Precious Moments figurines | 10,000+ | 86,000+ | $10-$30 |
| Hummel figurines | 7,100+ | 55,000+ | $12-$30 |
| Longaberger baskets | 11,000+ (includes lids and liners) | 53,000+ | $15-$50 |

At that pace, the Precious Moments listed right now are about two years of sales. Nothing wrong with them. They're lovely, and people do buy them. Just know you're joining a very long line. If you're reselling, look for the scarce ones, like a Hummel club piece that sold Oct 31, 2026 for $100.
What do the fastest-selling thrift finds have in common?
Here's what I notice. They do a job: reading, running, taking pictures, cutting vinyl, blocking noise, building. People search for them by the exact model. And the model decides the price.

So before you buy, check three things: the model, the charger and the parts. A Kindle with no generation info, a Garmin with no cable or a LEGO set with no minifigures is a different item from the one in the table.

The bottom line
This week, before you pay for anything to resell, do the 30-second check: sold, then listed, same words, same filters. If far more are listed than sold, either pass or look for the version that's scarce. From these 16, the Kindle Paperwhite, Garmin Forerunner and Canon 50mm f/1.8 moved fastest; the figurines and baskets sit.

Questions people ask
How do I see how many of an item sold on eBay?
Search the item on eBay and turn on the Sold items filter; the number of results is roughly how many sold in about the last 90 days. Then turn Sold off with the same words and filters to see how many are listed now, and compare the two.
What is a good sold-to-listed ratio on eBay?
There's no official number. As a rough guide, if about as many sold in the last 90 days as are listed now, or more, the item moves. In the Nov 1, 2026 check, the Kindle Paperwhite was almost six sold per listing, while Precious Moments figurines were about one sold for every eight or nine listed.
How much does a used Kindle Paperwhite sell for on eBay?
Typical used Paperwhites sold for about $35 to $95 on eBay in late October 2026, but the generation sets the price. A 6th generation sold for $34.99 and a 12th generation (2024) for $100, both on Oct 31, 2026. Check Device Options, then Device Info, to see which one you have.
Is Terapeak's sell-through rate the same as sold vs listed?
Not necessarily. Terapeak, free in eBay's Seller Hub, shows its own sell-through rate, and I couldn't find where eBay explains how it's calculated. The quick sold-vs-listed comparison won't always match it.
Are Precious Moments and Hummel figurines worth reselling?
They sell, but the line is long. On Nov 1, 2026, Precious Moments showed over 10,000 sold against over 86,000 listed, and Hummels over 7,100 sold against over 55,000 listed. Typical used ones sold for about $10 to $30, so look for scarce pieces, like a Hummel club figurine that sold Oct 31, 2026 for $100.
How can I tell which Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens I have?
The original from 1987 has a metal mount, the II from around 1990 has a plastic mount, and the STM from 2015 says STM on the lens. In the October 2026 sales I found, the STM brought the most (one sold Nov 1, 2026 for $95) and the II sold for less.

If you resell, the worst buy isn't the one you overpaid for. It's the one that sits. So I pulled real eBay counts on sixteen thrift-store regulars: how many sold, and how many are still listed. Number one sold almost six for every one listed. And a boot that sold over two thousand times in three months is actually one of the slow ones. So today: the seven fastest sellers I found, the popular stuff that's quietly slow, and how to check any item yourself in thirty seconds. Let's jump right into it.
So here's the check. Search the item on eBay, and turn on Sold items. I also tick Used and US Only. Write down the number of results. Now turn Sold off and keep the same filters. That's how many are listed right now. Then just compare the two. Here's a North Face Denali fleece. Over twenty-two hundred sold. Sounds great. But over ninety-five hundred are listed. That's about one sold for every four listed. Two things to know. eBay's sold results only go back about ninety days; eBay says that in its own help pages. And when the count says twenty-two hundred plus, eBay is rounding. So this is a rough guide, not a precise number. eBay's free Terapeak tool in Seller Hub shows its own sell-through rate, and I couldn't find where eBay explains that math, so don't expect it to match. Every count here was taken November first, same filters, and every price is a real eBay sold listing. Of my sixteen, Toshiba DVD-VCR combos and Red Wing boots also sold fast, but they were in a recent video, and the Ninja Creami's count was mixed up with accessories, so they're off this list.
Number seven: the Canon AE-1 Program. Nine hundred and nine sold, and over thirteen hundred listed. So about seven sold for every ten listed. Canon brought it out in April nineteen eighty-one. Look for the word Program in the name: the plain AE-1 is the older camera. Most with the fifty millimeter lens sold for about eighty to two hundred dollars. This one, with a fifty millimeter f one point four lens and extras, sold October twenty-eighth for one sixty-nine ninety-nine. But an untested one went to auction and sold for fifty-one dollars, with nineteen bids. So put a battery in it before you list it. And listen when you fire it: a squeal from the mirror mechanism means it needs a service.
Quick thing before we keep going. If you've got a pile of stuff waiting to be listed, that's exactly why I built EasyFlip. Snap a few photos and it writes the whole eBay listing for you: title, description, item specifics, the category, even a price. You check it, tap publish, done. Link's down below.
Number six: LEGO Star Wars sets. Over forty-nine hundred used sets sold, with over sixty-six hundred listed. About three sold for every four listed. Star Wars was LEGO's first licensed theme, back in nineteen ninety-nine. Typical used sets sold for about twenty-five to eighty-four dollars. A Millennium Falcon, complete with the box, sold October thirty-first for a hundred dollars. And a big retired Death Star, with the manual and minifigures, sold the same day for six twenty-five. That's the headline, not the normal. The set number is on the box and the instructions, and make sure the minifigures are there: the complete sets are the ones that got paid. Number five: the Cricut Maker. Two hundred ninety-four sold, three hundred forty-four listed. A few more listed than sold: about six sold for every seven listed. The original Maker came out in twenty seventeen, model C-X-P-L three-oh-one. Used originals sold for about fifty to a hundred thirty in the last couple of weeks, and auctions went lower. One with the power adapter sold October twenty-seventh for one twenty-nine ninety-nine. The newer Maker 3 got a hundred sixty and two hundred. So check for the power cord and the blade before you buy. Number four: Bose QuietComfort thirty-five two headphones. Five hundred eighty-four sold, four hundred seventy-eight listed. More sold than listed. These came out in twenty seventeen, with a button for the Google Assistant. Typical used pairs sold for about fifty to ninety-nine dollars. A silver pair sold October thirtieth for ninety-nine ninety-nine, and a pair with the case got a hundred twenty-five. And Bose itself warns that fakes copy real serial numbers, so a serial number alone doesn't prove a pair is real. Test them, and if anything feels off, pass.
Number three: the Canon fifty millimeter f one point eight lens, the one people call the nifty fifty. Over fourteen hundred sold, four hundred ninety-nine listed. Almost three sold for every one listed. Typical used ones sold for about sixty-eight to ninety-four dollars. There are three versions. The original, from nineteen eighty-seven, has a metal mount. The two, from around nineteen ninety, has a plastic mount, and it sold for less in what I found: one sold October thirty-first for seventy-three ninety-nine. The S-T-M, from twenty fifteen, brought the most: one with its caps sold November first for ninety-five. Number two: Garmin Forerunner running watches. Over twenty-five hundred sold, seven hundred sixty-six listed. More than three to one. The first Forerunners came out in two thousand three, and there have been a lot of them since, so the model number is everything. An old Forerunner two thirty-five sold October thirty-first for seventy dollars. A one sixty-five got one forty-four. And a nine seventy sold the same day for five fifty-five. Garmin watches use Garmin's own charging cables, so grab it if it's there. If the battery's dead, you can't test the watch without one. And number one: the Kindle Paperwhite. Over twenty-nine hundred sold. Five hundred and one listed. Almost six sold for every one listed. If nobody listed another one, at that pace the whole pile would be gone in about two weeks. Typical used ones sold for about thirty-five to ninety-five. But the generation sets the price. A sixth generation sold October thirty-first for thirty-four ninety-nine. An eleventh generation got seventy-seven ninety-nine. A twelfth generation, from twenty twenty-four, got a hundred dollars, same day. To see which one you've got, go to Device Options, then Device Info. And do a factory reset before you list it; that's what Amazon recommends before you sell one.
Now, the slow ones. Remember the boot? Dr. Martens fourteen-sixties. Over twenty-two hundred sold in the last three months. Sounds hot. But over seventy-seven hundred are listed: about three and a half for every one that sold. Typical used pairs sold for thirty-two to sixty-five dollars. A vintage Made in England pair did better: one sold October thirty-first for ninety-nine ninety-nine. That's one sale, but it's why you check the label. And in twenty seventeen, some vegan cherry red fourteen-sixties made in Vietnam were recalled. The C-P-S-C says it's illegal to sell a recalled product, so check the recall list at C-P-S-C dot gov. Then there's the shelf that never empties. Precious Moments figurines: over ten thousand sold, but over eighty-six thousand listed. Hummels: over seventy-one hundred sold, over fifty-five thousand listed. Longaberger baskets: over eleven thousand sold, and that count even includes lids and liners, against over fifty-three thousand listed. At that pace, the Precious Moments listed right now are about two years of sales. Nothing wrong with them. They're lovely, and people do buy them, typically for about ten to thirty dollars. Just know you're joining a very long line. If you're reselling, look for the scarce ones, like a Hummel club piece that sold October thirty-first for a hundred dollars.
So what do the fast ones have in common? Here's what I notice. They do a job: reading, running, taking pictures, cutting vinyl, blocking noise, building. People search for them by the exact model. And the model decides the price. So check the model, the charger and the parts before you buy. So, the recap. Seven: the AE-1 Program. Six: LEGO Star Wars. Five: the Cricut Maker. Four: the Bose QC thirty-five two. Three: the nifty fifty. Two: the Garmin Forerunner. And number one: the Kindle Paperwhite. And before you buy anything to resell, do the thirty-second check: sold, then listed. So, what's the fastest flip you've ever had, from the shelf to sold? Drop it in the comments. And if this one was useful, a like is the best way to get it to more resellers. Have a blessed day.
