The short answer
What cheap-to-ship items sell well on eBay right now?
Light items that ship in a mailer and sell for many times the label: James Avery charms (most about $40-$115, Oct 27-28, 2026), vintage Oakleys ($45-$150), single-stitch band tees ($20-$140) and vintage Coach bags (6 of 7 over $100). With USPS's two increases stacked until Jan 17, 2027, the rule: sell for 3-4 times the label, or bundle it.
- USPS has two temporary increases stacked until Jan 17, 2027: an 8% average (since Apr 26, 2026) and the holiday peak (since Oct 4, 2026).
- A 4 oz Ground Advantage package costs $8.40-$10.20 at the counter and $7.33-$8.95 at USPS's published commercial price (effective Oct 4, 2026).
- A $10 item with free shipping on a $7.33 label keeps about $1 after eBay's 13.6% fee plus $0.30.
- Price floor rule of thumb: if it won't sell for 3-4 times the label, bundle it, envelope it, or leave it.
- The eBay Standard Envelope ($0.78 for 1 oz) turns a $10 trading card shipped free into about $7.50 kept.

USPS has two temporary price increases stacked on top of each other until Jan 17, 2027, and on a $10 item with free shipping, the label can eat almost the whole sale. Below: what light packages cost right now, the math on a cheap sale, a simple price floor, four fixes, and 11 light thrift finds that sold on eBay in October 2026 for many times the label. Every rate is from USPS's or eBay's own pages, checked Oct 29, 2026.
What are the two USPS increases, and when do they end?
Both are temporary, and both are scheduled to end on Jan 17, 2027. The first is an 8% average increase on Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express and Parcel Select, announced Mar 25, 2026 and in effect since Apr 26, 2026. It hits both the post office counter price and USPS's published commercial prices.
The second is the holiday peak increase, which started Oct 4, 2026 on top of the first one. For a Ground Advantage package up to 3 lb going to zones 1-4, that's $0.50 more at the counter and $0.40 more on commercial prices. For zones 5-9 it's $0.75 at the counter and $0.55 commercial.

How much does it cost to ship a light package with USPS right now?
A 4 oz Ground Advantage package costs $8.40 at the post office counter going a short distance (zone 1) and $10.20 across the country (zone 8), on USPS's price list effective Oct 4, 2026. The published commercial price is $7.33 to $8.95.

Here's how the zone 1 prices got there this year, from the same USPS price list:
| USPS price, zone 1 | Jan 18, 2026 | Apr 26, 2026 | Oct 4, 2026 (now) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ground Advantage counter, 4 oz | $7.30 | $7.90 | $8.40 |
| Ground Advantage counter, 1 lb | $8.85 | $9.55 | $10.05 |
| Ground Advantage published commercial, 1 lb | $7.05 | $7.61 | $8.01 |
| Media Mail, 1 lb | $4.47 | $4.47 | $4.39 |
Media Mail isn't part of either increase, and it actually dropped in July.
What about eBay Labels? eBay says its Ground Advantage labels got no holiday increase for packages up to 20 lb in zones 1-8, except to rural ZIP codes (eBay announcement, Sep 28, 2026). eBay doesn't publish its exact label prices, and they've still moved this fall: Ground Advantage went up $0.10 for 0-2 lb on Sep 19, and rates have varied by destination ZIP since Oct 18. Check yours on the label screen. Either way, paying at the post office counter is the priciest way to ship.
How much do you keep on a $10 eBay sale with free shipping?
About $1, if you pay USPS's published $7.33 commercial price for the label. eBay's fee in most categories is 13.6% of the total, shipping included, plus $0.30 per order on orders of $10 or less ($0.40 above that).

| $10 sale, free shipping vs charged shipping | You keep (about) |
|---|---|
| Free shipping, $7.33 USPS published commercial label | $1 |
| Free shipping, $9.35 counter label (8 oz, zone 5) | -$1 (a loss) |
| Buyer pays $7.33 shipping (total $17.33) | $7 |
| Trading card, free shipping, $0.78 eBay Standard Envelope | $7.50 |
All of these are before sales tax and before what you paid for the item. Charging the buyer shipping helps, but eBay's percentage still applies to the shipping you charge, and plenty of buyers won't pay $7 to ship a $10 thing.
What's a good price floor for cheap items?
A simple rule of thumb: if it won't sell for three or four times the label, bundle it, ship it in an envelope, or leave it on the shelf.
Here's a real example. A signed Avon flower brooch sold on eBay on Oct 25, 2026 for $11.05 after seven bids. Of 16 signed Avon brooch sales from Oct 20-28, 2026, 15 went for $15 or less. At those prices a single brooch barely covers its own label.
Four ways to cut shipping costs on cheap items
These four fixes work best in this order: get the weight right, bundle what's cheap, use the envelope for flat things, and send media by Media Mail.
1. Weigh everything and round up
Ground Advantage is priced in weight steps, and anything even a little over a step pays the next one. At the counter right now, going over 8 oz takes a zone 1 package from $8.40 to $10.05. eBay Labels uses 4, 8, 12 and 15.99 oz steps for most of the continental US, so a fraction of an ounce can cost you there too.

Put the real weight and box size in your listing and use calculated shipping, so eBay shows each buyer the rate to their own address. And for boxes over one cubic foot, USPS charges by size (length x width x height, divided by 139), so a big light box can price like a heavy one. Use the smallest box that fits.
2. Bundle cheap items into lots
One label, one per-order fee, and a price worth shipping. Avon jewelry lots sold every day from Oct 25-28, 2026. A 10-piece signed lot sold for $85 on Oct 26, and a big two-tray lot went for $227.50 after 15 bids on Oct 28 (that's one sale). Per piece it's the same low money. The win is one shipment instead of ten.
3. Use the eBay Standard Envelope for flat items
The eBay Standard Envelope costs $0.78 for 1 oz, $1.07 for 2 oz and $1.36 for 3 oz. It's for items under $20, up to 3 oz and 1/4 inch thick, in eight categories: trading cards, coins and currency, stamps, postcards, patches, stickers and decals, greeting cards, and seeds. You print it through eBay, and it has limited tracking. Not every trading card category qualifies, so check yours.
4. Ship books, CDs, DVDs and records by Media Mail
Media Mail is $4.39 for 1 lb right now and isn't part of either increase. It's slower (2-8 days), and USPS can open it to check. Video games don't qualify; USPS says so in its Media Mail rules.

What cheap-to-ship items sell well on eBay right now?
Light things that fit in a mailer or a small box and sell for many times the label. These 11 come from real eBay sold listings, Oct 11-29, 2026. "One sale" is a single listing, not a typical price.
| Item | One sale | Most sold for | Sold (2026) | What to look for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| James Avery sterling charms | $425, retired enamel teapot (Oct 28) | about $40-$115 (12 of 19) | Oct 27-28 | Retired designs |
| Tiffany Return to Tiffany heart tag bracelet | $549.99 boxed toggle, Authenticity Guarantee (Oct 26) | $140-$250 (15 of 27) | Oct 11-27 | Fakes are common; only list it as Tiffany if you know it's real |
| Vintage Oakley sunglasses | $695, Romeo 1 X-Metal frames (Oct 27) | $45-$150 (25 of 34) | Oct 25-28 | X-Metal models |
| Vintage single-stitch band tees | $275, 1992 Ozzy Osbourne, new (other) (Oct 27) | $20-$140 (20 of 24) | Oct 24-28 | One row of stitching on the sleeve and hem |
| Vintage Harley-Davidson tees | $400, 3D Emblem, 21 bids (Oct 26) | $25-$135 (23 of 31) | Oct 20-28 | 3D Emblem shirts; check the date |
| Pendleton wool board shirts | $188.50, 1960s loop collar, 6 bids (Oct 24) | $28-$65 (11 of 15) | Oct 23-25 | 1960s loop collars |
| Lululemon Define jacket | $75 (Oct 27) | $30-$75 used (21 of 23) | Oct 21-28 | Sells fast: 23+ used in about a week |
| Free People sweaters | $49.99 (Oct 28) | $20-$50 used (15 of 21) | Oct 28-29 | Modest money, fast: 21+ used in about two days |
| 90s Nike windbreakers | $111.37, colorblock with Nike spellout (Oct 28) | $25-$60 (16 of 22) | Oct 26-29 | Loud colorblock, spellout on the arm |
| TI-84 Plus CE calculator | $64.99, tested (Oct 24) | $30-$65 used (6 sales) | Oct 24-25 | Make sure it turns on |
| Vintage Coach leather bags | $500, jade Court bag, Authenticity Guarantee (Oct 24) | 6 of 7 over $100 | Oct 18-24 | "Made in USA" |
A few notes on the list. James Avery charms weigh almost nothing, and the three top sales ($425, $170 and $115.50) were all retired designs. Tiffany heart tag bracelets sell well, but fakes are common, so if you can't tell it's real, don't list it as Tiffany. Harley-Davidson tees cover a wide range: plenty went for under $30, so check the date before you pay up. The TI-84 Plus CE has to work: an untested one, sold for parts, went for $22 on Oct 25, 2026.
Free People sweaters are the modest one here. The money per sale is small, but they move, and a sweater still ships in a mailer.
Once you've found a pile of these, EasyFlip writes the eBay listing from a few photos: title, description, item specifics and a suggested price, and you publish it to your own store.
What happens to USPS prices on Jan 17, 2027?
Both temporary increases are scheduled to end on Jan 17, 2027, but don't count on cheaper shipping yet: as of Oct 29, 2026, USPS hasn't published what comes next. Check your rates again in January.

If you're shipping gifts, USPS's recommended send-by date for Ground Advantage is Dec 17.
The bottom line
This week, do the floor math before you buy anything cheap: if it won't sell for three or four times the label, it needs a bundle, an envelope, or a pass. Weigh every package and use calculated shipping. Bundle the cheap stuff, use the Standard Envelope for flat items in eligible categories, and use Media Mail for books, discs and records, never games. Then spend your sourcing time on light things like the 11 above.
Fees and rates change, so check eBay's and USPS's own pages before you set prices. If you want what's selling every week, the free Easy Flip newsletter goes out every Monday.

Did eBay Labels go up for the 2026 holidays?
eBay says its Ground Advantage labels got no holiday increase for packages up to 20 lb in zones 1-8, except to rural ZIP codes (Sep 28, 2026). eBay Labels Ground Advantage did go up $0.10 for 0-2 lb on Sep 19, and rates have varied by destination ZIP since Oct 18, so check the label screen.

If you sell cheap stuff on eBay, the label might be eating your whole profit. A ten-dollar item with free shipping, on USPS's published seven thirty-three label? After eBay's fee, you keep about a dollar. Because the Postal Service has two temporary price increases stacked on top of each other, until January seventeenth. If it's a trading card, one little envelope turns that same sale into about seven fifty. And a nylon jacket you'd walk past sold this week for a hundred and eleven dollars. So today: what shipping really costs right now, the price floor for cheap items, four fixes, and eleven light finds that sell for way more than the label. Every rate is from USPS's or eBay's own pages, and every price is a real eBay sold listing. Let's jump right into it.
So here's what happened. In March, the Postal Service announced an eight percent average increase on Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express and Parcel Select. It started April twenty-sixth, and it runs until January seventeenth, twenty twenty-seven. It hits both the post office counter price and USPS's published commercial prices. Then on October fourth, a second one landed on top: the holiday peak increase. For a Ground Advantage package up to three pounds, that's fifty cents more at the counter for zones one through four, and forty cents more on commercial labels. Same end date, January seventeenth. So what does a light package cost today? On USPS's own price list, a four-ounce Ground Advantage package is eight forty at the counter going a short distance, and ten twenty across the country. The published commercial price is seven thirty-three to eight ninety-five. Now the good news, from eBay itself. eBay says its Ground Advantage labels got no holiday increase for packages up to twenty pounds, except to rural ZIP codes. eBay doesn't publish its exact prices, and they've still moved this fall, so check yours on the label screen. But paying at the post office counter is the priciest way to ship it.
So let's do the math on a ten-dollar sale. eBay's fee in most categories is thirteen point six percent of the total, shipping included, plus thirty cents on an order of ten dollars or less. Offer free shipping, pay USPS's published seven thirty-three online price, and you keep about a dollar. Pay the counter price to ship it a few states away, and you lose about a dollar. And that's before what you paid for the item. Charge the buyer shipping instead, and you keep about seven dollars. But eBay's percentage still applies to the shipping you charge, and plenty of buyers won't pay seven dollars to ship a ten-dollar thing.
Quick thing before we keep going. If you've got a pile of stuff waiting to be listed, that's exactly why I built EasyFlip. Snap a few photos and it writes the whole eBay listing for you: title, description, item specifics, the category, even a price. You check it, tap publish, done. Link's down below.
Here's a real one. A signed Avon flower brooch sold on eBay on October twenty-fifth for eleven dollars and five cents, after seven bids. And of sixteen signed Avon brooch sales from October twentieth to twenty-eighth, fifteen went for fifteen dollars or less. So set a floor. A simple rule of thumb: if it won't sell for three or four times the label, it goes in a bundle, in an envelope, or it stays on the shelf.
Fix number one: weigh everything, and round up. Ground Advantage is priced in weight steps, and anything even a little over a step pays the next one. At the counter right now, going over eight ounces jumps a short-distance package from eight forty to ten oh five. eBay Labels uses four, eight, twelve and fifteen point nine nine ounce steps for most of the country, so a fraction of an ounce can cost you there too. So put the real weight and box size in your listing, and use calculated shipping, so eBay shows each buyer the rate to their own address instead of you guessing. And for boxes over one cubic foot, USPS charges by size with a divisor of one thirty-nine, so a big light box can price like a heavy one. Use the smallest box that fits.
Fix number two: bundle the cheap stuff into lots. One label, one per-order fee, and a price worth shipping. Remember those Avon brooches? Avon jewelry lots sold every day from October twenty-fifth to the twenty-eighth. A ten-piece signed lot sold for eighty-five dollars on October twenty-sixth, and a big two-tray lot went for two twenty-seven fifty after fifteen bids. That's one sale. Per piece, it's the same low money. The win is one shipment instead of ten.
Fix number three, for flat things: the eBay Standard Envelope. One ounce is seventy-eight cents, two ounces a dollar seven, three ounces a dollar thirty-six. It's for items under twenty dollars, up to three ounces and a quarter inch thick, in eight categories, like trading cards, coins, stamps, postcards and patches. You print it through eBay, and it comes with limited tracking. So a ten-dollar card shipped free leaves you about seven fifty, not a dollar. Check that your exact category qualifies, because not every trading card category does.
Fix number four: Media Mail, for books, CDs, DVDs and records. A one-pound package is four thirty-nine right now, and Media Mail isn't part of either increase. It's slower, two to eight days, and USPS can open it to check. Here's something to be wary about: video games don't qualify. USPS says so right in its rules.
So what should you grab instead? Things that ship in a mailer or a small box and sell for many times the label. Here are eleven, all from real eBay sold listings this month.
Number one: James Avery sterling charms. They weigh almost nothing. Most single charms sold for about forty to a hundred fifteen dollars in just two days this week, and a retired enamel teapot charm sold for four twenty-five. Retired designs are the ones to look for.
Number two: the Tiffany Return to Tiffany heart tag bracelet. Most sold for a hundred forty to two-fifty this month, and a boxed toggle went for five forty-nine ninety-nine through eBay's Authenticity Guarantee. But fakes are common, so if you can't tell it's real, don't list it as Tiffany.
Number three: vintage Oakley sunglasses. Most pairs sold for forty-five to a hundred fifty in four days. The X-Metal ones are the big money: a pair of Romeo One frames sold for six ninety-five.
Number four: vintage single-stitch band tees, one row of stitching on the sleeve and the hem. Most sold for twenty to a hundred forty this week, and a 1992 Ozzy Osbourne tee sold for two seventy-five.
Number five: vintage Harley-Davidson tees. Most sold for twenty-five to a hundred thirty-five. The 3D Emblem shirts brought the top prices: one went for four hundred after twenty-one bids. But plenty went for under thirty dollars, so check the date before you pay up.
Number six: vintage Pendleton wool board shirts. Most sold for twenty-eight to sixty-five, and the 1960s loop-collar ones go higher: one sold for a hundred eighty-eight fifty after six bids.
Number seven: the Lululemon Define jacket. Most used ones sold for thirty to seventy-five dollars, and at least twenty-three used ones sold in about a week.
Number eight is modest, and I'll be honest about it: Free People sweaters. Most used ones sold for twenty to fifty dollars, but they move: at least twenty-one used ones sold in about two days.
Number nine: the jacket from the start. Vintage nineties Nike windbreakers. Most sold for twenty-five to sixty, and the best one was a loud colorblock with the Nike spellout on the arm: a hundred eleven thirty-seven.
Number ten: the TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator. Working used ones sold for thirty to sixty-five dollars. Make sure it turns on, because an untested one, sold for parts, went for twenty-two.
And number eleven: vintage Coach leather bags, made in the USA. Of seven I pulled from October eighteenth to twenty-fourth, six sold for over a hundred dollars, and a jade green Court bag sold for five hundred through eBay's Authenticity Guarantee.
So what happens on January seventeenth? Both temporary increases are scheduled to end. But don't count on cheaper shipping yet: USPS hasn't published what comes next, so check your rates again in January. And if you're shipping gifts, USPS's recommended send-by date for Ground Advantage is December seventeenth.
So, the recap. Two temporary increases are stacked until January seventeenth. Do the floor math before you buy. Weigh everything and use calculated shipping. Bundle the cheap stuff, use the Standard Envelope for flat things, and Media Mail for books, discs and records, never games. And source light things that sell for many times the label. So I'm curious: what's the cheapest thing you still ship, and is it worth the label? Tell me in the comments. And if this saved you a few bucks, a like helps more resellers find it. Have a blessed day.
