The short answer
What should resellers thrift before Black Friday 2026?
Eight things sold well on eBay in October 2026: Avon's "Christmas Is Coming" advent tree, Shiny-Brite ornaments, vintage blow molds, iPod Classics, vintage Polly Pocket, the Chronological Donald Volume 4 tin, Carhartt Detroit jackets and Made in USA Coach bags. A blow mold schoolhouse sold for $350 on Oct 24, 2026. List Christmas items before Black Friday, Nov 27.
- Big vintage blow mold figures sold for about $100-$130 each on Oct 24, 2026, and a large 1980s schoolhouse sold for $350 with $93.27 delivery shown to our ZIP.
- A Carhartt Detroit J97 jacket sold for $397 with 29 bids on Oct 22, 2026; most used ones sold for $150-$400 that week.
- On eBay Labels, the holiday increase skips Priority Mail and Ground Advantage up to 20 lb in zones 1-8 (except rural ZIPs); the bigger Ground Advantage cubic tiers rose $1.18-$2.84.
- eBay Labels rates changed on Jul 12, Jul 25, Sep 19, Oct 4, Oct 18 and Oct 25, 2026, so put heavy and bulky items on calculated shipping.
- The earliest Christmas deadline is Nov 4, 2026 (USPS Ground Advantage to APO/FPO/DPO); Ground Advantage in the lower 48 is Dec 17.

Black Friday is Nov 27, 2026, and the weeks before it decide a reseller's December. Here's the Q4 game plan from late October: what changed with shipping this fall, eight things to source with real eBay sold prices, when to list what, and the Christmas shipping deadlines to put on your calendar.
What changed with USPS and eBay shipping in fall 2026?
A lot, and often. USPS holiday prices took effect Oct 4, 2026 and run until Jan 17, 2027, averaging 6% more on Priority Mail, Ground Advantage and Priority Mail Express, according to USPS. That sits on top of the 8% time-limited increase that started Apr 26, 2026. The Postal Regulatory Commission's public representative wrote that the Postal Service would "stack this holiday time-limited price increase on top of the already existing time-limited price increase approved in Docket No. CP2026-4."
If you ship through eBay Labels, there's good news. eBay says the holiday increase does not hit Priority Mail or Ground Advantage packages up to 20 pounds in zones 1 through 8, except to USPS rural ZIP codes, and Flat Rate didn't go up for the holidays either. What did go up: the bigger Ground Advantage cubic tiers (0.30 to 1.0 cubic feet), by $1.18 to $2.84 depending on the zone.

Put the eBay Labels changes on a timeline and you can see why it's hard to keep up. These are effective dates from eBay's own announcements:
| Effective date | What changed on eBay Labels |
|---|---|
| Jul 12, 2026 | Dimensional weight divisor went from 166 to 139, and measurements round up to the next whole inch. Media Mail went down an average of 1.8%. |
| Jul 25, 2026 | Ground Advantage 3-5 lb up $0.10 in zones 1-8 |
| Sep 19, 2026 | Ground Advantage 0-2 lb up $0.10 and 3-5 lb up $0.27 to $2.28; Priority Mail Flat Rate up $0.30. Value Added Resource reported it came with one day's notice. |
| Oct 4, 2026 | USPS holiday prices begin; on eBay Labels, only the bigger Ground Advantage cubic tiers rise ($1.18 to $2.84) |
| Oct 18, 2026 | Three new Ground Advantage price groups, on top of standard rates, based on the buyer's ZIP code |
| Oct 25, 2026 | Ground Advantage rates change again, "both increases and decreases depending on package weight, shipping zone, and destination," with no numbers in the announcement |
About that Oct 18 change: eBay says it's "not an overall rate increase." But Value Added Resource counted more than 25,000 ZIP codes outside standard pricing, about 7,600 of them newly moved out. And according to Value Added Resource, which quoted the email, Pirate Ship told its customers it would stop sending routine rate alerts because carriers are "starting to change rates multiple times per week."

Should you switch to calculated shipping?
For anything heavy or bulky, yes. With calculated shipping the buyer pays the current rate, and eBay says that if you use calculated shipping, the rates update automatically. Then go through your old free-shipping and flat-rate listings over two pounds. Those are the ones where every increase comes straight out of your profit.
Big, light boxes need extra care. Since Jul 12, 2026, eBay Labels uses a dimensional weight divisor of 139 instead of 166, and rounds measurements up to the next whole inch. In plain English: a big, light box, over one cubic foot, gets charged like it weighs more. Measure the box before you set the shipping.

What should you thrift before Black Friday 2026?
Eight things sold well on eBay in October 2026: three Christmas items buyers shop for early, plus gifts and cold-weather pieces. Every price below is an eBay sold listing (U.S. sellers, Sold filter, best-offer-accepted and coupon prices left out), checked Oct 24, 2026.
| Item | Sold for | Most sold for | Sold | What to look for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Avon "Christmas Is Coming" advent tree (1996) | $150, used | $85-$170 used (8 of 10 sales, Sep 24-Oct 24) | Oct 15, 2026 | A little musical tree that turns, with tiny drawers and ornaments; new in box sold for $195 (Sep 26) |
| Shiny-Brite glass ornaments, original box of 12 | $160.50 (pink and chartreuse, auction, 5 bids) | About $40-$90 for plain boxes (Oct 24) | Oct 24, 2026 | Unusual colors and patterns; an atomic-style set sold for $132.50 with 37 bids |
| Vintage Christmas blow mold, large 1980s schoolhouse | $350 (one sale) | $100-$130 for big figures (Oct 24) | Oct 24, 2026 | Size is the money: most small ones sold for $15-$50 |
| iPod Classic 160GB | $159.99 | $125-$160 (4 used sales, Oct 23-24) | Oct 24, 2026 | Even a parts-only 160GB sold for $94 with 39 bids |
| Vintage Polly Pocket (Bluebird), 1992 Fairy Fantasy | $145 | $40-$150 complete (7 of 9 sales, Oct 18-24) | Oct 20, 2026 | Complete, with the tiny dolls inside; the compact alone is about $15-$20 |
| Walt Disney Treasures "Chronological Donald" Volume 4 tin | $275, used | $250-$350 (7 of 10 sales, Aug 24-Oct 24) | Oct 8, 2026 | Silver tin, Donald on the front, Volume 4; Volumes 1 and 2 usually sell for $20-$40 |
| Carhartt Detroit jacket (J97) | $397 (auction, 29 bids) | $150-$400 used (Oct 18-24) | Oct 22, 2026 | Short canvas jacket, dark collar, blanket lining, the square patch |
| Vintage Coach bag, made in USA (jade green Court bag) | $500 | $75-$300 (11 of 14 sales, Oct 18-24) | Oct 24, 2026 | The leather creed patch inside |
How much do vintage Christmas blow molds sell for?
On Oct 24, 2026, big blow mold figures (a Santa on a sleigh, a drummer boy, an angel, a nutcracker) sold for about $100 to $130 each on eBay, and a large 1980s schoolhouse sold for $350. Look for makers like Union Products, Empire, General Foam and TPI.
Look at the delivery cost those sold listings showed to our ZIP code:
| Blow mold | Sold for | Delivery shown (to our ZIP) |
|---|---|---|
| Union Products Santa on sleigh with reindeer, 31 in. | $110.95 | $38.00 |
| TPI drummer boy | $119.75 | $55.00 |
| TPI angel, 34 in. | $99.99 | $84.57 |
| Large 1980s schoolhouse | $350 | $93.27 |
They still sold with the buyer covering shipping, not the seller. If you'd listed that schoolhouse with free shipping, the shipping could have eaten a big chunk of your sale. These usually turn up at garage and estate sales, often in the garage.

Which gifts and cold-weather items sell in Q4?
The iPod Classic, vintage Polly Pocket, the Chronological Donald Volume 4 tin, Carhartt Detroit jackets and old Coach bags all had strong October sales. A few things to check on each:
- iPod Classic: the back shows the capacity it shipped with, but a lot of these get upgraded, so check it in Settings too. Older 30GB video models sold for about $85-$100 on Oct 24, 2026. Charge it before you buy if the store lets you.
- Polly Pocket: open it up. Complete is where the money is. Whatnot says its Toys and Hobbies orders are up 140% in 2026; that's Whatnot's own number.
- Chronological Donald: check the volume number. Volume 4 is the one.
- Carhartt Detroit: there are lookalikes, so learn the real tag. It's jacket season, so get jackets listed now.
- Vintage Coach: the creed on old ones says made in New York City or made in the United States, and most have a serial number. Fakes exist, and fakes can have a creed, so learn what a real one looks like before you pay up. Whatnot says that in 2026, Coach was named in nearly half of all vintage bag show titles on Whatnot.
Once you've sourced a pile, EasyFlip writes the eBay listing from a few photos, with a suggested price you check before you publish.
When should you list Christmas items to sell?
Now. Christmas decor and ornaments should be live and collecting watchers before the holiday weekend: Thanksgiving is Nov 26, Black Friday is Nov 27 and Cyber Monday is Nov 30, 2026, and a lot of people decorate right after Thanksgiving.
Other platform dates to know:
| Platform | What changed | Dates |
|---|---|---|
| Mercari | Buyers get free shipping on $50 or more in items, not counting shipping. Your listing must use buyer-paid shipping, and the package must be 5 lb or less and not oversized. | Oct 22, 2026 to Jan 4, 2027 |
| Poshmark | The standard label covers 5 lb; 5-10 lb is a $5 upgrade and 10-15 lb is $10. If you ship overweight without upgrading, Poshmark now takes it out of your earnings. | Deduction starts Oct 26, 2026 |
| eBay | eBay balance becomes mandatory for existing eligible U.S. sellers, and on-demand withdrawal becomes the default payout setting. Value Added Resource reports daily or weekly payouts get switched and must be set again. | Nov 4, 2026 |
| Whatnot | Its first national brand campaign was set to make its TV debut on Oct 25, 2026. Whatnot says sellers sold more in the first half of 2026 than in all of 2025, when it reported $8 billion in live sales. | Oct 25, 2026 |
On Mercari, bundle and price your small items so they add up past $50, and watch offers that drop an order under it. On Poshmark, weigh heavy coats, boots and bundles.
What are the 2026 Christmas shipping deadlines?
The earliest one is Nov 4, 2026, for USPS Ground Advantage to military addresses (APO, FPO and DPO). These are recommended dates, not guarantees, so build in a buffer:
| Service | Ship by (2026) |
|---|---|
| USPS Ground Advantage to APO/FPO/DPO | Nov 4 |
| USPS First-Class Package International and Priority Mail International | Dec 9 |
| FedEx Ground Economy | Dec 15 |
| USPS Ground Advantage (lower 48) | Dec 17 |
| USPS Priority Mail (lower 48) | Dec 18 |
| USPS Priority Mail Express (lower 48) | Dec 19 |
For Alaska and Hawaii, USPS gives Ground Advantage no single date. FedEx says its dates are subject to change.

The bottom line
This week, switch heavy and bulky listings to calculated shipping, and check any free-shipping listing over two pounds. Source the eight: the Avon tree, Shiny-Brite, blow molds, iPods, Polly Pockets, Chronological Donald Volume 4, Carhartt Detroits and old Coach. Get Christmas items listed before Black Friday, weigh your Poshmark coats, and put Nov 4 and Dec 17 on your calendar.

A plastic Christmas schoolhouse from the eighties just sold on eBay for three hundred fifty dollars. With ninety-three dollars of shipping showing on the sold listing, to my ZIP code. A tiny Polly Pocket went for a hundred forty-five. A parts-only iPod pulled thirty-nine bids. Black Friday is November twenty-seventh, about a month out. This is the stretch that decides your whole December. And in October, your shipping costs changed. Again. So here's the Q4 game plan. What just changed with shipping, eight things to source right now with real sold prices, when to list what, and the dates you can't miss. Let's get into it.
Start with the post office. On October fourth, USPS turned on its holiday prices. They run until January seventeenth, and they average six percent more on Priority Mail, Ground Advantage and Priority Mail Express. And that's on top of the eight percent increase that started in April. The Postal Regulatory Commission's public representative wrote that the Postal Service would "stack" the holiday increase on top of it. Now the good news, if you ship through eBay Labels. eBay says the holiday increase does NOT hit Priority Mail or Ground Advantage packages up to twenty pounds, in zones one through eight, except to rural ZIP codes. And Flat Rate didn't go up either. What did go up: the bigger Ground Advantage cubic tiers, by a dollar eighteen to two eighty-four, depending on the zone. Then on October eighteenth, eBay Labels added three new Ground Advantage price groups, on top of standard rates, based on the buyer's ZIP code. eBay says it's "not an overall rate increase." But Value Added Resource counted more than twenty-five thousand ZIP codes outside standard pricing, about seventy-six hundred of them newly moved out. And eBay said Ground Advantage rates would change one more time on October twenty-fifth. Some up, some down, depending on weight, zone and where it's going. And the announcement didn't include a single number. Put it on a timeline and it's wild. Since July, eBay label rate changes have taken effect on July twelfth, July twenty-fifth, September nineteenth, October fourth, October eighteenth, and October twenty-fifth. And those are just the ones we could confirm. Value Added Resource reported the September one came with one day's notice. It's changing so often that, according to Value Added Resource, which quoted the email, Pirate Ship told its customers it will stop sending routine rate alerts, because carriers are "starting to change rates multiple times per week." So here's the move. Anything heavy or bulky: calculated shipping, not flat. And go through your old free-shipping and flat-rate listings over two pounds. Those are the ones where every increase comes straight out of your profit.
Quick thing before we keep going. If you've got a pile of stuff waiting to be listed, that's exactly why I built EasyFlip. Snap a few photos and it writes the whole eBay listing for you: title, description, item specifics, the category, even a price. You check it, tap publish, done. Link's down below.
Okay. Eight things to source right now, with real sold prices. We pulled every one of these straight from eBay's sold listings. First, three Christmas ones, because buyers are shopping for these right now. Number one: the Avon "Christmas Is Coming" advent tree, from nineteen ninety-six. One sold in mid-October for a hundred fifty dollars. From late September to late October, most used ones sold for about eighty-five to a hundred seventy. And a new one in the box went for a hundred ninety-five. It looks like a little musical tree that turns, with tiny drawers and ornaments. It shows up on estate-sale Christmas tables, and it's easy to walk right past it. Number two: Shiny-Brite glass ornaments, in the original box of twelve. On October twenty-fourth alone, plain boxes sold for about forty to ninety dollars. But the unusual colors and patterns can climb at auction. A pink and chartreuse box hit a hundred sixty dollars and fifty cents. A box of atomic-style ones pulled thirty-seven bids and sold for a hundred thirty-two fifty. The tiny one-inch minis? Only about fifteen to seventeen. So look at the box, and look at the colors. You'll find these in estate-sale Christmas boxes and the holiday aisle at thrift stores, still in their original boxes. Number three: vintage Christmas blow molds. The light-up plastic yard figures. Union Products, Empire, General Foam, T-P-I. On that same day, the big figures, a Santa on a sleigh, a drummer boy, an angel, a nutcracker, sold for about a hundred to a hundred thirty dollars each. And that big eighties schoolhouse went for three-fifty. Now look at the shipping showing on those sold listings, to my ZIP: thirty-eight, fifty-five, eighty-four, ninety-three dollars. And they still sold. The buyer covered the shipping, not the seller. If you'd listed that schoolhouse with free shipping, the shipping could've eaten a big chunk of your sale. Most of the small ones sold for about fifteen to fifty, so the size is the money. And the shipping. And here's why big boxes cost more now. Since July twelfth, the dimensional weight divisor on eBay Labels went from one sixty-six down to one thirty-nine, and measurements round up to the next whole inch. In plain English: a big, light box, over one cubic foot, gets charged like it weighs more. So measure the box before you set the shipping. Where do these show up? Garage sales and estate sales, usually in the garage, and usually cheap, because nobody wants to haul them.
Number four: the iPod Classic. On October twenty-third and twenty-fourth, the four used one-sixty gig ones we counted all sold for about a hundred twenty-five to a hundred sixty. Even the older thirty gig video ones went for about eighty-five to a hundred. And a parts-only one-sixty gig pulled thirty-nine bids and sold for ninety-four dollars. Flip it over: the back says the capacity it shipped with. A lot of these get upgraded, so check it in Settings too. Charge it before you buy, if the store lets you. Check the locked electronics case at the thrift store, and the junk drawer box at garage sales. Number five: vintage Polly Pocket, the little plastic compacts by Bluebird, from nineteen eighty-nine into the nineties. The compact by itself goes for about fifteen to twenty. But complete, with the tiny dolls inside, most sold for about forty to a hundred fifty in the week we checked. A nineteen ninety-two Fairy Fantasy went for a hundred forty-five. Open it up. Complete is where the money is. Dig through the toy bins at Goodwill and the kids' table at garage sales. And toys are hot right now. Whatnot says its Toys and Hobbies orders are up a hundred forty percent this year. That's Whatnot's own number. Number six: the Walt Disney Treasures DVD tins. The Chronological Donald, volumes one and two, usually go for about twenty to forty bucks. But Volume four? Since late August, most sold for about two hundred fifty to three hundred fifty dollars. Silver tin, Donald on the front. Check the volume number. They hide in the thrift DVD section and in garage-sale boxes of movies. Number seven: the Carhartt Detroit jacket, style J-ninety-seven. One pulled twenty-nine bids on October twenty-second and sold for three hundred ninety-seven dollars. And that week, most used ones sold for about a hundred fifty to four hundred. Short canvas jacket, dark collar, blanket lining, the square patch. Check the men's outerwear rack and the workwear at estate sales, and know there are lookalikes out there, so learn the real tag. It's jacket season, so get your jackets listed now. Number eight: vintage Coach bags, the old leather ones made in the U-S-A. In the week we checked, most sold for about seventy-five to three hundred. A jade green Court bag went for five hundred. Look for the leather patch inside, called the creed. The old ones say made in New York City, or made in the United States, and most have a serial number. Fakes exist here too, and fakes can have a creed, so learn what a real one looks like before you pay up. Look on the purse wall at thrift stores and in the closets at estate sales. And Whatnot says Coach shows up in nearly half of this year's vintage bag show titles.
So when do you list all this? Christmas decor and ornaments: now. A lot of people decorate right after Thanksgiving, which is November twenty-sixth. Black Friday's the twenty-seventh, Cyber Monday's the thirtieth. You want those listings live and collecting watchers before then. If you sell on Mercari: from October twenty-second to January fourth, buyers get free shipping on fifty dollars or more in items, not counting shipping. To qualify, your listing has to use buyer-paid shipping, and the package has to be five pounds or less, and not oversized. So bundle, and price your small stuff so it adds up past fifty. Poshmark: the standard label covers five pounds. Five to ten pounds is a five-dollar upgrade, and ten to fifteen is ten dollars. And starting October twenty-sixth, if you ship overweight without upgrading, Poshmark takes it out of your earnings. That's heavy coats, boots and bundles, so weigh them. And on eBay: starting November fourth, eBay balance becomes mandatory for existing eligible U-S sellers, and on-demand withdrawal becomes the default payout setting. Value Added Resource reports that if you're on a daily or weekly payout, you'll get switched and have to set it back yourself. Put that on your calendar. One more. Whatnot's first national brand campaign was set to debut on TV on October twenty-fifth, during the Giants game. Whatnot says its sellers sold more in the first half of this year than in all of last year, when it reported eight billion dollars. Those are Whatnot's numbers, but if you sell live, a lot of brand-new buyers could be about to show up.
Last thing: the shipping deadlines for Christmas. The earliest one is the one people miss. Military addresses, A-P-O, F-P-O and D-P-O, by Ground Advantage? November fourth. International, First-Class and Priority: December ninth. In the lower forty-eight, USPS recommends Ground Advantage by December seventeenth, Priority Mail by the eighteenth, and Priority Mail Express by the nineteenth. FedEx Ground Economy is December fifteenth. These are recommended dates, not guarantees, so build in a buffer.
So, your Q4 game plan. Switch heavy items to calculated shipping. Source the eight: the Avon tree, Shiny-Brite, blow molds, iPods, Polly Pockets, Volume four, Carhartt Detroits and old Coach. List Christmas stuff now. Weigh your Poshmark coats. And put November fourth and December seventeenth on your calendar. Now I want to know: what's the best thing you've found this month? Tell me in the comments. And if this helped, a like helps the video reach more resellers. Have a blessed day, and happy flipping.
