eBay Payout Change Nov 4, 2026: eBay Balance and Your Schedule

From Nov 4, 2026, eBay balance is automatic for eligible U.S. sellers and on-demand is the default. What eBay's terms say and the setting to check.

The short answer

What is changing with eBay payouts on November 4, 2026?

Starting Nov 4, 2026, eBay automatically enrolls eligible U.S. sellers in eBay balance after an identity check at or after their next qualifying sale. eBay's new terms make on-demand withdrawal "the default setting," and Value Added Resource reports that daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly payout schedules switch to on-demand. After enrollment, set your payout schedule again in Seller Hub.

  • The U.S. eBay balance Terms and Conditions (posted Oct 21, 2026) take effect Nov 4, 2026 for existing users and on acceptance for new sellers enrolled on or after Oct 21, 2026.
  • eBay's terms call on-demand withdrawal "the default setting"; Value Added Resource reports existing payout schedules switch to on-demand and must be set again.
  • eBay balance is "a limited-purpose stored account": it doesn't earn interest and isn't eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance.
  • If you never withdraw, eBay sends available funds to your bank no more than 330 days after your most recent sale.
  • A payout frequency that's "at least weekly" also lets you withdraw on demand, per eBay's terms.

eBay is moving eligible U.S. sellers onto eBay balance, and the date to know is Nov 4, 2026. Below is what eBay's own terms say (checked Oct 25, 2026), what Value Added Resource reported about your payout schedule, the one setting to check, and eight things that sold on eBay that same week.

What is changing with eBay payouts on November 4, 2026?

Starting Nov 4, 2026, eligible U.S. sellers are enrolled in eBay balance automatically, and eBay's new terms make on-demand withdrawal "the default setting" for moving money to your bank. Your sales money goes into a balance inside eBay first.

On Oct 20, 2026, eBay told sellers it was updating its payment terms, Value Added Resource reports. Value Added Resource also says eBay balance is the program eBay used to call Spendable Funds. Back then, joining was optional. Now it isn't.

When do eBay's new balance terms take effect?

For existing users of eBay balance, the U.S. eBay balance Terms and Conditions take effect on Nov 4, 2026. For new sellers enrolled on or after Oct 21, 2026, they take effect when the seller accepts them. The terms page says "Posted on: October 21, 2026."

Enrollment isn't a single switch on one day. eBay's terms say eligible sellers are enrolled "after successful completion of our identity verification process," which starts at or after your next qualifying sale (or your first sale, if you're new).

Not everyone is eligible. The terms leave out sellers whose registered address is in New Mexico, and accounts under suspension, restriction or a payout block.

What can you use your eBay balance for?

Your balance can pay for things on eBay: your own purchases, and selling costs like shipping labels and promoted listings fees. eBay can also make your balance your default payment method at checkout when you have funds in it. The terms say you can still choose another payment method before you complete a purchase.

To be fair, that can be handy. Paying for labels straight out of your sales is convenient. The problem isn't the balance. It's that your automatic payout might turn off unless you set it again.

Will my automatic eBay payouts stop after November 4?

They could, if you don't set your schedule again. eBay's new terms call on-demand withdrawals "the default setting," and Value Added Resource reports that sellers on a daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly payout get switched to on-demand and have to set their schedule again themselves.

In plain English: if you don't touch anything, your money can sit in your balance until you go in and tap withdraw. That lands right as the holiday sales pick up.

Can you opt out of eBay balance?

Not really. eBay's terms say using eBay balance "becomes a condition to using your eBay account," and that you close your eBay balance account by closing your eBay account. The one group the terms leave out by address is sellers registered in New Mexico.

Is eBay balance a bank account?

No. eBay's terms call it "a limited-purpose stored account" and say the money in it "does not constitute a deposit." Here's what the fine print says, word for word:

QuestionWhat eBay's terms say
Is it a bank deposit?"The eBay balance Account is a limited-purpose stored account" and the balance "does not constitute a deposit."
Does it earn interest?"You will not earn interest on funds held in your eBay balance Account, nor is the eBay balance Account eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance."
What does eBay do with the funds?"We may combine your funds with those of other customers and invest them according to applicable laws. You do not have any ownership interest in these investments and any interest earned from these investments will be retained by us." (eBay Payments Terms of Use)
What about money "On Hold"?"Funds marked as "On Hold" do not belong to you and are not credited to your eBay balance Account." You can't use them for purchases, payouts or withdrawals while they're on hold.
What if I never withdraw?eBay will "automatically disburse any Available funds" to your linked bank account "no more than 330 days following your most recent sale."

That 330 days is the longest it can sit if you never withdraw, not a normal wait. Still, it's almost a year.

How do you set your eBay payout schedule after November 4?

Go to Seller Hub, then Payments, then Summary, and scroll down to "Your preferences," then pick a payout schedule again. That path comes from Value Added Resource, and it points out eBay hasn't confirmed it will stay the same after Nov 4. If it moved, look for your payout preferences under Payments.

  1. After Nov 4, 2026, open Seller Hub > Payments > Summary > Your preferences.
  2. Pick a payout schedule. eBay's terms say choosing a payout frequency that's "at least weekly" also lets you withdraw on demand.
  3. Know the trade-off: the terms say a less frequent schedule "may extend the time funds appear as Processing before they become Available."
  4. Check that your linked bank account is the right one, because that's where every withdrawal goes.
  5. Put a reminder on your calendar for the week of Nov 4 to go back and make sure your schedule stuck.

That's about five minutes of work.

What else changed on eBay the week of October 20, 2026?

Three other things landed that week: a USPS rate change, a short eBay Live promo, and a workforce cut at eBay.

  • USPS Ground Advantage rates, Oct 25, 2026. eBay's seller news team said USPS made "another round of shipping rate changes to Ground Advantage," with "both increases and decreases depending on package weight, shipping zone, and destination." eBay's advice: if you use calculated shipping, the rates update automatically. That matters most for heavy items.
  • eBay Live 0% commission, through Oct 29, 2026. eBay gave some U.S. Live sellers 0% commission on Live sales until 11:59:59 PM Pacific on Oct 29. It was invite-only, payment processing fees still applied, and sales completed after the promo ended didn't qualify, even if the stream started during it.
  • About 9% of eBay's workforce. eBay announced on Oct 20, 2026 a plan to cut about 9% of its global workforce. Its Form 8-K (date of report Oct 20, 2026) estimates $130 million to $150 million in pre-tax charges, "substantially all" of it related to severance payments and post-employment benefits. What that means for sellers is too early to say.

What sold on eBay in late October 2026?

These eight sold on eBay (U.S. sellers, Sold filter, checked Oct 25, 2026). Ranges are most of the sales in the dates shown; single high prices are one sale each.

The bottom line

The payout fix is a job for the days after Nov 4, 2026: open your payout preferences, set a schedule again if it switched to on-demand, confirm your linked bank account, and set a reminder to check it stuck. Remember what eBay's own terms say: your balance doesn't earn interest, it isn't eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance, and it's not a bank deposit.

Questions people ask

When does eBay balance become automatic?

eBay's new U.S. eBay balance terms take effect Nov 4, 2026 for existing users, and on acceptance for new sellers enrolled on or after Oct 21, 2026. Eligible sellers are enrolled after an identity check that starts at or after their next qualifying sale.

Will eBay still send my payouts automatically?

Only if you have a payout schedule set. eBay's terms make on-demand withdrawal the default, and Value Added Resource reports that existing daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly schedules switch to on-demand, so check your payout preferences after Nov 4, 2026 and set your schedule again.

Does eBay balance earn interest or have FDIC insurance?

No. eBay's terms say "You will not earn interest" on funds in your eBay balance and that the account isn't eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance. The terms also say the balance does not constitute a deposit.

Can I opt out of eBay balance?

Not separately. eBay's terms say using eBay balance "becomes a condition to using your eBay account," and you close the balance account by closing your eBay account. Sellers registered in New Mexico, and accounts under suspension, restriction or a payout block, aren't eligible.

What happens if I never withdraw my eBay balance?

eBay's terms say it will automatically send any available funds to your linked bank account no more than 330 days after your most recent sale if you haven't requested a withdrawal in that time.

How do I change my eBay payout schedule?

Value Added Resource gives the path Seller Hub > Payments > Summary > Your preferences, and notes eBay hasn't confirmed it will stay the same after Nov 4, 2026. If it moved, look for your payout preferences under Payments.

If you sell on eBay and your money shows up in your bank account every week on its own, that could stop after November fourth. And according to Value Added Resource, you'd have to turn it back on yourself. eBay is moving eligible U-S sellers onto eBay balance. Your sales go into a balance inside eBay. And in eBay's new terms, on-demand withdrawal is the default. Not a schedule. On-demand. So in this video: what's actually changing, what the fine print says about your money, the one setting to fix, the rest of eBay's very busy week, and eight things that sold this week, with real sold prices. Let's jump right into it.

On October twentieth, eBay told sellers it was updating its payment terms, Value Added Resource reports. Starting November fourth, eligible U-S sellers get enrolled in eBay balance automatically. If that sounds familiar, Value Added Resource says it's the program eBay used to call Spendable Funds. Back then, joining was optional. Now it isn't. Here's how it works. Your sales money goes into your eBay balance first. eBay's terms say the enrollment happens once it verifies your identity, and that check starts at or after your next qualifying sale. And your balance isn't just a waiting room. The terms say it can pay for things on eBay: your purchases, and selling costs like shipping labels. eBay can even make your balance the default way to pay at checkout when you've got money in it. You can still pick another payment method before you buy. The spending limits changed too. Value Added Resource reports the old Spendable Funds caps were two thousand dollars per transaction or in a twenty-four-hour period, and five thousand over a rolling thirty days. The new terms call the limits "dynamic," based on things like your risk profile and account history. You can see yours in Seller Hub or My eBay. And this is the part that matters. eBay's new terms call on-demand withdrawals "the default setting." Value Added Resource reports that sellers on a daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly payout get switched to on-demand, and have to set their schedule again themselves. In plain English: if you don't touch anything, your money can sit there until you go in and tap withdraw. Right as the holiday sales pick up. Can you opt out? Not really. The terms say using eBay balance "becomes a condition to using your eBay account." The terms say you close it by closing your eBay account. And one exception right now: sellers registered in New Mexico aren't eligible. I'll show you the fix in a minute. First, real quick.

Quick thing before we keep going. If you've got a pile of stuff waiting to be listed, that's exactly why I built EasyFlip. Snap a few photos and it writes the whole eBay listing for you: title, description, item specifics, the category, even a price. You check it, tap publish, done. Link's down below.

So what does it actually mean to keep your money in an eBay balance? I read the terms, so you don't have to. Three things jumped out. One. It's not a bank account. eBay calls it "a limited-purpose stored account," and says the money in it "does not constitute a deposit." Two. "You will not earn interest" on it, and it isn't eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance. And eBay's payments terms say it may combine your funds with other customers' funds and invest them, and any interest earned "will be retained by us." Which is a sentence. Three. Money marked "On Hold." The terms say those funds "do not belong to you" and aren't credited to your balance. You can't withdraw them or spend them while they're on hold. And if you never withdraw at all? eBay will send whatever's available to your bank no more than three hundred thirty days after your most recent sale. That's almost a year. Now, to be fair, a balance can be handy. Paying for labels straight out of your sales is convenient. The problem isn't the balance. It's that your automatic payout might turn off unless you set it again.

So here's what I'd do. After November fourth, go into Seller Hub, then Payments, then Summary, and scroll down to "Your preferences." That's the path Value Added Resource gives, and they point out eBay hasn't confirmed it'll stay the same after November fourth. So if it moved, look for your payout preferences under Payments. Then pick a payout schedule again. eBay's terms say picking a payout frequency that's "at least weekly" also lets you withdraw on demand. And a less frequent schedule can leave your money sitting in "Processing" longer before it's available. While you're in there, check that your linked bank account is the right one, because that's where every withdrawal goes. And put a reminder on your calendar for the week of November fourth to go back and make sure your schedule stuck. That's it. Five minutes.

Now, the rest of eBay's week. Shipping. On October twenty-fifth, USPS changed Ground Advantage rates again. eBay said some went up and some went down, depending on package weight, zone and where it's going. eBay's own advice: if you use calculated shipping, the rates update automatically. That matters for heavy stuff, and there's a heavy one coming up in a minute. eBay Live. Through October twenty-ninth, eBay is giving some U-S Live sellers zero percent commission on Live sales. But it's invite-only, payment processing fees still apply, and the sale has to be completed and paid by the end of the twenty-ninth, Pacific time. Even if your stream started during the promo, a sale completed after that doesn't count. And eBay is cutting about nine percent of its global workforce. eBay announced it on October twentieth, and its own filing with the S-E-C estimates a hundred thirty to a hundred fifty million dollars in pre-tax charges, nearly all of it severance and related benefits. What that means for sellers, it's too early to say, and I'm not going to guess.

So let's talk about what's going to fill that balance. Eight things that sold on eBay recently, every price from eBay's sold listings, checked on October twenty-fifth. Electronics first.

Number one: the Sony Walkman. On October twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth, most of the working ones sold for about forty to seventy dollars. A tested W-M A-F fifty-seven went for a hundred fifteen. A not-working one? Nineteen dollars. So test it before you list it. Put a tape in and make sure it plays.

Number two: the original Nintendo Game Boy, model D-M-G zero one. From October twenty-first to the twenty-fourth, most working ones sold for about sixty to a hundred twenty. One with seven games pulled thirteen bids and sold for a hundred twenty. And one sold for parts still got twenty bids and went for forty-six.

Number three: the T-I eighty-four Plus C-E graphing calculator. On October twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth, most used ones sold for about forty to sixty-five. A new one, sealed, went for eighty-nine ninety-five. Untested, for parts: twenty-two. If you've got the charger and the cover, include them. Now the kitchen.

Number four: Pyrex Butterprint, the turquoise on white, you'll see it listed as Amish Butterprint. From October twenty-second to the twenty-fifth, most single bowls sold for about twenty-five to seventy dollars. And a full set of four Cinderella bowls sold for two seventy-four ninety-nine. That's one sale, but what a sale. Look for a bright pattern, not one faded by the dishwasher.

Number five: Le Creuset Dutch ovens. From October fifth to the twenty-fifth, most used ones sold for about ninety-five to two hundred. A white five-and-a-half quart went for a hundred ninety-nine. And look at this one. One sold for seventy-six dollars, and the delivery showing on it, to my ZIP code, was eighty-seven thirty. Heavy stuff costs real money to ship, and calculated shipping keeps up with the rates for you. Clothing next.

Number six: vintage Pendleton wool board shirts. From October twenty-third to the twenty-fifth, most sold for about twenty-eight to sixty-five. But the top sales were from the sixties. One went for a hundred twenty, and a nineteen-sixties loop-collar one pulled six bids and sold for a hundred eighty-eight fifty. Look for that little loop at the top of the collar.

Number seven: vintage Levi's five-oh-ones, made in the U-S-A. From October twenty-third to the twenty-fifth, most used pairs sold for about fifty-five to a hundred dollars. A faded pair from the eighties went for a hundred thirty-nine ninety-nine. Check the tag inside for "Made in USA." And two pairs with small waists sold for less, about thirty and thirty-eight.

And number eight: the Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T fleece. On October twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth, most used ones sold for about forty to ninety. A vintage nineties one went for a hundred ten.

So, the recap. Starting November fourth, eBay balance is automatic for eligible sellers, and on-demand is the default. After that, check your payout schedule and set it again if it switched. The money in your balance doesn't earn you interest, it isn't eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance, and eBay's own terms say it's not a bank account. Use calculated shipping on the heavy stuff. And go find a Walkman. Now I'm curious: are you going to leave your money in your eBay balance, or pull it out every week? Let me know in the comments. And if this helped, a like helps it reach more resellers. Have a blessed day.
